The
excellent ski runs comply with the standards of FIS and are located in
two main ski-centers Chalin Valog (The peaks hollow) (1100-1600
m. a.s.l.) and Shiligarnika (1700-2500 m. a.s.l.). They are situated at
approx. 10 km distance away of the town on the northern slopes of Pirin
Mountains and are easily accessible by lift starting from Bansko. The
total length of the pistes is about 65 km. Several tens of snow cannons
maintain the snow coverage in perfect conditions when necessary, making
the ski season last longer. Variety of many different inclines and types
of snow offer the best opportunities for ski enthusiasts of all levels,
from the absolute beginner to the extreme high performer. Some good off-piste
riding is available but local knowledge is essential to avoid the hidden
dangers.
The snowboard fans can enjoy the first on the Balkans attraction
park where they are allowed to build jumps suiting their taste and abilities
best.
The lifts are several different types, that are built to ensure
skiers with choice and comfort. These are: 8-seats Gondola, five 4- seats
lifts of the latest Doppelmayer models, one 3-seats lift by Poma, 7 drags
and 10 baby drags. The total length of the wire equipment in the resort
is 26 kilometers. All ski equipment can be used by one chip-card. There
are several monitors broadcasting live the conditions of the upper parts
of the lifts, preparing people of the weather expecting them a bit higher
in the mountains.
